Malawi has kicked off the 7th Africa-Wide Agricultural Extension Week (AAEW 2025) today to run through to 16th May, 2025, at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
The event has been organised by the Malawi government in collaboration with the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) and the Malawi Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (MaFAAS).
The event, officially opened by Minister of Agriculture, Sam Kawale, has pooled ministers and delegates from across Africa.
This year’s event is being held under the theme: “Rebranding Extension for Enhanced Public/Private sector Driven Commercialization, Industrialization, and inclusive Food systems”.
The primary objectives of AAEW 2025 are developing knowledge and skills related to the rebranding of extension services, fostering collaboration and partnership among stakeholders across the agricultural values chain, and discussing key policy issues affecting Agricultural Extension advisory services (AEAS).
The event has brought together various players in the agriculture sector, including government officials, policymakers, agricultural extensions professionals, researchers, private sector representatives, development partners, and farmers.
The event provides a unique platform through learning from professionals from different backgrounds, building relationships with policymakers and investors.
The AAEW 2025 is a landmark event that will catalyze transformative change in agricultural extension services across Africa, according to the statement.
